Why would she pay for the ad if she's retired?

True independents are those who have no agents and handle everything by themselves. If they are fully booked or busy they may not pick up the phone. Or they may take a day or a few off for rest and recuperation during which time their work phone is off.

So if you call an indy and no answer, either wait a while and call again, or just try another one. No need asking noob questions like "why doesn't she answer my phone".
