Why has used car prices went up?

Used car prices went up alot during covid. Is there really more demand? Who is buying?

Due to chip shortage its harder to buy new cars. So the demand shifted over to old cars.

Quite true!

Dealerships don't even get their inventory orders filled. It is a sellers' market right now!

also US market go hotter. so lots of US wholesaler come to Canada to get used car and ship to US. They usually pay higher price to the people or dealer. Dealer prefer wholesale those inventory to them because they don't have to do recondition, don't take risk to keep the car in the lot and easy quick money.
