I will take this opportunity to give you my take on the incident involving Hamilton and Max.


In motor racing, whoever enters the corner first, has the “right of way”, also whoever is closest to the corner, has the right of way if both cars are equal before entering a corner.


With this in mind, let us look at the incident.  Hamilton had the inside line BEFORE approaching the corner which is a chicane, i.e. a right hand turn to be followed by a left hand turn;  because he was on the inside, the corner became more acute & therefore must brake earlier which allowed Max to catch up & right before turning the right hand corner, Max was ahead of Hamilton.


At this point, Max tried to squeeze Hamilton onto the gravel track,  but Hamilton held his line and they touched.  Mind you, Max didn’t have to squeeze Hamilton at the first corner because there was a left hand corner immediately after the right, if Max had taken the usual racing line, the subsequently left hand corner will COMFORTABLY placed Max ahead of Hamilton.


Also from the video, we can see Max’s right front tire came off as a result of the incident.  So, I can safely say, Max hit Hamilton’s car first BEFORE what was shown on the video.  This basically changed the whole perspective of the incident.


So, it was a racing accident and if we must find fault, then Max had himself to blame because he caused it!

It has a better video coverage of the incident.  Max's rear right wheels came off at impact which proved that Max's rear right wheel hit Hamilton's rear left wheel, i.e. the initial contact occurred when Max hit Hamilton which can only mean Hamilton was slightly ahead (has the right of way!).

Simply put, Max's driving style has always been aggressive/pushy which required Hamilton to back off on at least two previous F-1 events. However, this time, Hamilton decided not to back off again.  

In my opinion, Hamilton decided NOT to back off this time, was probably due to MB's power plant improvement (may be fractionally better than RB now) which justified not to give in.

The latest rumour:

Bottas will be replaced by George Russel next year.  Bottas might join Alfa Romeo while Kimi will retire.

I think the first one has some truth as I suspected it 1+ months ago.  The 2nd one I have reservation.  Why should Bottas join a team which is not competitive.

The next F-1 race is this SUN's Hungary F-1 GP.

Qualifying session is today - right now.

There will be NO TV coverage for both qualifying and the race which I understand due to coverage of the Olympic games.

First row, MBs.
2nd row, RBs.

Unfortunately, no live TV coverage for the race tomorrow!

The race has just ended.

It was full of drama.  Bottas made a mistake and caused a lot of cars being wiped out of the race.  Bottas was penalized,  I believe this also sealed his fate with MB.

The race stopped/red flagged to have debris cleared away.  The stoppage allowed the track to dry up & everybody changed to dry tires while Hamilton did not, so he was the only one following the official car when the race resumed!  Poor MB management!!

After just one lap, Hamilton had to pit to change tires, & he dropped to last, & must now work his way back & with so many cars in front.

Roughly 20 laps to go, MB made the decision to pit Hamilton so that he would have a better chance with new tires, but Alonso did all possible to delay being over-taken to help his team mate who was leading the race.  That strategy worked because by the time Hamilton can overtake Alonso, there was not enough laps to do it.  If there were 2 more laps, Hamilton might have won the race   .

What a pity that there was no TV coverage, it was a very interesting race & full of drama!
