It will be George Russel who has been tipped as the next World Champion when he matures.  This willbe his testing ground, a chance to prove that he has got what it takes to be a world's #1 driver.

In my opinion, Bottas is not an impressive "wing man" for Hamilton although he could put up fast laps during qualifying, he chokes all the time in the race.  

If GR can put up a fast qualifying lap + perform well in the race, may be even bettering Bottas, all in an unfamiliar car, then he has a bright future!

So far, GR has been doing better-than-expected in a slow Williams, but brilliantly in the rain, so this is his chance to prove to all the F-1 team managers in the next, or may be two races.

Practice doesn't mean much but can give us some indication.  George Russel, replacing Hamilton at short notice and driving an unfamiliar car, was ahead of Bottas in practice times!

After FP-2, GR still posted the fastest time, followed Max and Perez.  Bottas choked, ended up with 14th.

FP-3 will be tomorrow, to be followed by Qualifying.

The 2nd Bahrain's 2020 F-1 GP Qualifying has just finished.

All I can say is "holy shit", George Russel almost got the pole - just 2/100th"  slower than Bottas.

So Bottas, GR, Max, Leclerc.

Mind you, GR was driving an unfamiliar car for the first time to replace Hamilton who was tested Covid-19 positive about 5 days ago.

BM Team MGR must be very happy, but Bottas has be very nervous now.

The Race is still in progress, but I know the result already.  Why?  Read on......

GR, the rookie led from Turn 1, and looked certain to score his maiden F-1 win.  He pitted for new tires, buy mechanics gave him Bottas' tires, both suffered & both must pit again.


After this tire change, GR was doing catch up and look certain to win, then tire puncture did him in.

So Perez who has NO DRIVE for 2021, will win the Race.

Since there was no live telecast, I can only read the live commentary from F-1's website, I would say that GR must be extremely disappointed, so were the fans for the sensation and drama.

Bottas, Bottas, Bottas, even without Hamilton in the race, he lost the lead to GR at the first corner.  MB Team Manager must have regretted signing Bottas to a new contract just about 2 months ago!
