There are many things you shouldn’t do in a car. One of the reasons for this is that hidden cameras can be installed just about anywhere in a car, so your odds of being busted doing something you shouldn’t be doing are pretty strong.
Julia Merfeld, 20, of Muskegon, Mich., illustrated this in chilling fashion (video below) when she was busted for arranging a hit on her husband. Her eerie cheerfulness and blatant questions were captured on video cameras hidden in a car.
In the bizarre incident, Merfeld was caught on video talking to an undercover police detective she thought was a hit man, casually discussing the gritty details of how she wanted the death of her husband, 27, to be arranged so that she could collect a $400,000 insurance policy.
In the video, she giggles and challenges the “hit man” to surprise her with the method, so that she will appear convincingly surprised when it happens.
The damning footage was played in court and has gone viral.
On the video, Merfeld is heard telling the detective that killing her husband would be “easier than divorcing him.”
She said that if he was killed she wouldn’t have to worry about her family’s judgment or “breaking his heart.”
Merfeld pleaded guilty last month to soliciting a murder. She’s jailed ahead of sentencing July 30 and is expected to face prison time.
