well don't eat too much kim chi, they r not good for u, they put preservative in it..

It depends. If he already got symptoms, then the test should return something. He probably caught whatever a week or so earlier.
As for HIV, that's 3 months window. But I remember reading somewhere that 1 month is actually sufficient and it's up to 99% accurate instead of 99.9%. That's just my vague memory...
