Just finished watching the taped telecast of the Azerbaijan GP.
I think Vettel got away too lightly after hitting Hamilton TWICE!
The first time was when the Official Car was out, and everyone must keep their position without overtaking while the Official Car and the race leader, in this case Hamilton controlled the pace. Vettel was afraid the Hamilton might get away and accidentally hit Hamilton, but Vettel placed the blame on Hamilton.
It is like driving through a tunnel, you are not allowed to overtake, no matter how fast and how slow the car in front is moving.
After blaming Hamilton for the accident, Vettel drove forward, was parallel with Hamilton - the race leader, then turned his front wheel toward Hamilton's car and hit him in a display of road rage, which should never be tolerated in high speed racing.
Vettel got 5" penalty for each of the hit, totaling 10".
Let's face it, if you hit any car on the road in the form of road rage, your licence will be suspended.
10" penalty was just too lenient.
You know why Vettel could get away so lightly? My guess is that Vettel drives for Ferrari which happens to be a "major sponsor" of F-1, so he got away, just like Michael Schumacher, another dirty driver, who drove for Ferrari and got away with a lot dirty driving! |
