The whole Seeking Arrangement platform itself is a pretty much a huge scam.
Most of the girls on the platform behave in the exact same way as the one in the news. They'll keep asking you for money, gifts, etc, but never put out. In their minds, they are so attractive and charming that they deserve endless compensation just for giving you a bit of their attention. Sex is used as bait which the guy will never get.
Oh, and there's a lot of fake bot profiles that's created by Seeking Arrangement itself just to give the illusion that every pretty girl in North America is waiting to be your sugar baby.
