I guess that most MM working in China are from OUT OF PROVINCE and therefore not shy to show their "true " though higly PS face pic , whereas the ones from HK legal working girls do not because they are local and would be recognized by friends and relatives.
So you need to really find out in person with HK ladies as no face was clearly shown. But OK to checkout the girls from pic in China. But I had a landmine with bad face, body and manner during one session, but luckily no more.

I learned my lesson too.
After the first mine, try another agent and he let me visit the MM in her hotel room (that is the reason I picked that hotel as it has love smell and rates are very decent, also checked out smoke level though they say NON SMOKING FLOOR, do not believe it a bit). From that mine onwards, I will personally check out MM before I use her. That mine really ruin my faith. 1.5hr became less than 0.5 and nothing happened and every thing so disappointed. Should have reject her when she asked if she is OK two times. Did not get a hint that SHE IS NOT WORTH IT in every aspect. It is OK to give good service without good features. BUT NOTHING GOOD and not even enough time. BAD BAD BAD.

In China, you do not have strict law or regulation, Everything is related to people and connection.
And China is a country permitting smoking almost everywhere,
Japan, before also like this. US, before also .
But now the regulation is more strict , less tolerance in J and US now.
