IMHO, there are 3 main factors that merits a high price.
Physical Beauty: Not much needs to be said, this one is obvious. One thing I'll emphasize is that I'm talking about natural beauty. There are too many MMs that have obvious plastic surgery done. I would only value natural beauty.
Age: This one is self-evident too. Generally speaking, the younger, the more valuable.
Skill / Experience: This one is a unique. In fact this industry is very unique because for all other industries, the more experienced and skilled the worker is, the more valuable they are. The sex industry is unique because the more experienced/skilled a sex worker gets, the less they are worth. Freshness is the ultimate prize. Some guys who complain that a young girl with very little service cost so much more than veterans who can perform any service, these guys just don't get it.
Another thing, prices don't go up linearly. Paying twice the price will not get you twice the fun.

Better be a once in a lifetime experience or close to it.
If you don't earn a lot, and the price is out of your league, then don't do it. Otherwise you'll be so focused on how much you spent, and with such sky high expectations, you are guaranteed to be disappointed.
There is also another reason why prices are sometimes so high even though the girl is nothing special.
Ever since Jack Ma became famous, every Chinese wants to be an agent. They think its the magic ticket to getting rich without doing actual work (in other words, I simply make the referral, you guys do the work, I get paid on every transaction).
If you are familiar with a term called 互推 which is quite popular on Wechat these days, and applies to all categories of products/services. It basically means complete strangers will meet online and agree to advertise each others goods as their own (without letting the end customers know) and add a profit margin on top of whatever the other person originally sold it for. Person A who 互推 with Person B might then in turn 互推 with Person C, so now you have Person C who never even met person A but selling his product (with 2 levels of extra profit margin for the 2 agents added to the original price).
So a lot of MMs actually have multiple layers of agents all taking their cut. A $600 girl might actually only get $200, and there will be 4 layers of agents each getting $100. Most of the ultra high priced MMs on Wechat that are advertised as top calibre MMs are actually regular $150-200 range girls being touted by multiple agents.
