Coin used to have a hole.
Mainly for putting them together.
They had no wallet then, not even pockets.  Just holes in the clothes.

Even luggage in recent times does not have wheels, same with garbage bin.  With wheels, no SKYCAP or porters in airport needed,  even bellboys.
