to answer your question "why someone would buy fancy sports cars"
my answer is they need it they want it they have impulse to buy it.
remember 4P,
same idea with why people would buy latest iPhone 7 with high price.
why people would buy chanel, expensive clothes, why people would go to expensive restaurant
because the product has either use value or symbolic value.
because they can afford it and need it or be curious about it.
because of peer pressure,, because of social norm because of cultural expectation , because of their demographics life style and life stage.
life stage:
who needs to buy nice suits ? white collars in their middle age
why needs to buy beers? mature men with social life.
who need to buy schoolbag and notebooks, mostly students
