KMT needs change. 蒋经国 understand/know this. Therefore, 李登輝 is a "brave" choices at the end. IMO,蒋经国 do this intentionally. [I don't believe 蒋经国 not knowing what the person was of 李登輝]
If C.K Chiang's hands were tied by KMT, so were Ma's hands. You cannot apply this rule to one and not the other.
The best thing which came out of the current presidential election, not only did KMT lost the presidency, it lost control of the legislature as well. From now on, KMT will be an underdog in all local elections. KMT needs a "rebuild", no choice.
