Looks like legalization is coming to Onatario, just like US Colorado and Washington state or more coming (say DC and California).
The 4 columns of Chinese Vice (hunting, gambling, alcohol and opium). Most places allow alcohol and hunting (one on one) Gambling is available in limited places and more now in US and Canada. Indeed if anything, that is the worse vice to a person's life as it is UNLIMITED drain on resources by one roll.
Not sure is cigarette smoking is included in Opium category. Legal but advertised rightfully so as BAD.
Ontario is right in going the legalization route.
Studies have shown that vast interest groups are interested in keeping the status quo (ie Illegal for small quantity and not allowing distribution of large quantities without permit.
Mexican ex president Cox just clarified in a TV show that 40 percent of Mexican drug cartel income comes from Grass distribution, which are used to buy powerful weapons to kill more people.
Legal authorities are interested to maintain it as it can prosecute, imprison and keep a long time a small time user. By prosecution process, they incur a lot of overtime to the extent that the OT pay is higher than salary, just spend time in paper work, court proceeding. In the mean time, other violent crimes are not being prevented due to their time constraint.
The cost of society to pursue on Marijuana issue is a waste of public resources. When are we going to have more budget to build more roads (especially double deckers needed to move cars), subways, lake side highway to move cars from East and West of Toronto, like other island places (agree may destroying look of nature, but think about the congestion car fumes that generated from congestion).
Looking forward to Ontario moving forward on this issue. |
