Thanks for 1 day favor to this subject. MMP looked crazy earlier but he's quite friendly when not drank. So far, he hasn't has "attack" elements in his writing. He could be a good partner to DD in this family....... Will see....

They are soldiers to protect their Country (Here means China). They respond to threats when the county ran out-of-order or under attacked. They've similar function as father to home ( Or father-lion to their cubs). 解放军 have no other function (particular politic) except "protect" instinct. The worse scenario they could be killed when mission failed.
It might not be YOU but, our father or grand father or grand grand father (possible) would be solider before (fight against Japanese or invaders or enemies). These soldiers should be respected.

Actually modern warfare depends on deterrent. No need to use soldiers unless you want to conquer the other country.  I remember someone mentioned why China did not capture India before.  The reply was " we could even feed our own people, how can we feed Indians."
Just a few missiles will get rid of the other country and yours as well (if the other side has the missiles too).
