I felt bad for Ding after his elimination because by the luck of the draw, all the better snookers are in one group, e.g. Ronnie O'Sullivan (multiple times World Champion who Ding beat in the last 16), Neil Robertson (1-time champion who Ding beat in the last 8), Liang - an up-and-coming Chinese player who Ding beat in the last 32, and Marco Fu - an one-time runner of world Championship and winner of many 2016/2017 Tournaments, lost to Selby in the last 16.
Ding had his chance of drawing level at 16 all and let the final Frame decide the winner, but just before his shot, I believe he moved his eyes away from the cue ball for a split second and "hit the target ball fat", then Selby took advantage to clean the table and won 17 -15!
Ding was exceptional with his safety shots, so was Selby.
I will copy and paste the full play when available.
Ding and Selby's game should be in the Final. I don't see John Higgins * - the other Group winner, having any chance against Selby.
* John Higgings was at one time, one of the top players in the world, but got suspended for a few years for game fixing. Higgins is over his prime. Although still a good player, he is no match for Selby or any of the players who Ding beat!
