10 BEST STATES TO RETIRE IN:

http://money.cnn.com/gallery/ret ... tirement/index.html

I know you guys are not old enough to retire yet, if you do, the above US states is for your info.

For Canada, I think Victoria, B.C. and St. Catharines, Ont. are worth looking into.  However, if you need a good meal once in a while, stay in GTA!

That is a very useful web! I will try to have a bbq party in summer!

Rule of thumb for grilling steak:

Each inch of thickness, needs a total of 10 minutes' of grilling time.

What I do is, assuming 1" thickness:
1.   Medium high to high heat on one side for 2'.  Flip around the other side for the same time.  This is called "searing", i.e. burn the meat to prevent the juice from escaping. 2' x 2 sides = 4 minutes.
2.  Flip the steak, move it 90 degree, medium low heat for 3' per side. Total 6 minutes.  By turning the steak 90 degrees, it will show diamond-shaped grill marks.
3.  Remove steak from grill, cover with foil & let it cool off for 5 - 10'.  You will get medium steak.  If you want "medium rare", reduce the time for "2"

Re marination, just use salt (I use sea salt which is more salty than table salt) & self-grinded pepper 2 hours B4 grilling.

Please note that steak which you buy in supermarket is usually 3/4" thick, then total grilling time is 7.5'.

Ask me if you have other questions re grilling, I will try my best to answer.

You don't have to grill meat to enjoy BBQ-ing.

The best veggie treat I find is sweet corn.  Yes, the easily available, inexpensive corn.

This is how to do it:

1.  Buy good, CLEAN corn from supermarkets, not from street vendors.  Corn from supermarkets have been pre-cleaned & have no dirt on them.

2.  Soak the corn in a bucket of water, like 5 minutes.

3.  Shake off the excess water.

4.  No cleaning required & do not remove the cover/leaves.

5.  Place the corn on your grill with very low heat.  Move it from time to time to ensure all sides get heated.

6.  Remove corn from grill after 30'.

7.  This is the time to remove the cover/leaves & eat.  You will be surprised at how tasty the corn can offer.
