The wheel  spacers will widen the track, make the car look “sexier” , and better performance in cornering.

When cars turn around a corner, the outer wheel turns faster than the inner wheel (if they turn at the same speed, the car will slide).  This video explains the invention that goes into designing a "differential" which regulates the speed of the inside and outside wheels.  Educational.

My reaction to the topic is:

HP and straight line speed have little meaning if you cannot handle the HP and/or the speed.  Also American cars are known for attaining speed with bigger engines but with NO cornering ability.
