Today's (JAN24) CNN news reported Japanese naval vessels blocked fishing boats from Taiwan to approach the islands.
Readers were allowed to post their comments, & I posted mine:

These barren islands were part of Taiwan Hsien during the Ching Dynasty which Japan annexed after the 19th century war. During the Japanese occupation of Taiwan. even Japan-published maps showed these island were part of Taiwan.
When Japan surrendered to the allied countries, China (the Nationalist Government) was part of the signatories accepting Japan's surrender on board USS Missouri. Taiwan was returned to China, that would include the islands already.
USA had never stationed troops on the islands or administered the islands as the islands have no fresh water supply + insufficient flat land to build an airport.
Out of nowhere, USA decided to give the island to Japan. Who gave USA the authority to decide who gets what??? USA's move was clearly to award a WWII aggressor while sacrificing a WWII ally - the Chinese Government on the island of Taiwan.
The reason? USA is clinging on to the old strategy to contain a Communist regime on the mainland - the domino theory.
If there is a military conflict between China & Japan, we now know who orchestrated it - USA!
When the world's 2nd & 3rd largest economy collide, who will be the benefector?
Need I say more?
