XFACTOR USA 2012
This is a singing contest with no limit on entrants' age. The 2012 episode started 2 weeks ago.
The contest format is to narrow all candidates to a smaller number via auditions, send them to boot camp (intense training), narrow further to 12 or 16, then the competition really begins. Finally, the result will be decided by viewers' votes.
Total program duration is about 3 months, with twice a week viewing.
There were two serious contenders last night.
One is a 38 y.o. male road repair worker, married with a 13 y.o. daughter. This guy has a really rich & mellow country music voice.
I like his voice & his chances.
The other one is a 22 year old female. She sang with so much passion which was unbelievable.
I will upload videos for all to enjoy, when they become available.
The preliminary stage auditions continue tonight @ 2000 hours, but check your local listings.
For those of you who followed my previous posting here & somewhere else re talent shows will know that I seem to have ears for picking the winner each time. I also want to prove to myself that my "achievements" were no fluke.
Here is Tate Stevens who is gifted with a country music voice:

Meet Vino Alan:

He has a great voice & an unique approach. Worth listening to, however, all these married men with children won't get too much vote from the teenage girls. My guess is that Vino may not advance to the final rounds.
This is update re XFactor-USA 2012.
The auditions have been completed with 120 suvvivors who will be reduced to 24, divided into 4 (?) distinct groups, e.g. group singers, teenager singers, mature singers; each group will have a mentor who is one of the judges, & the group will be sent to a "boot camp" who will guide & coach them into better singers.
When the group size is reduced to 4, the contestants will then go the final rounds with TV audience phone in their votes to decide who stays & who is out.
After this week, we will know who are the remaining 24 to contest for the tile & the $.
An update:
The "survivors" have now been divided into 4 categories of 6 acts each in each category. Each category will be mentored by one of the judges.
The Categories are:
Teenagers By Britney Spears
Young Adults by Demi
Team/group by Simon
Over 25's By L. A. Reid
The mentors will cut the category size to 4. So, a total of 16 acts will go into the finals.
The Over 25's & the Young Adults Category have the most talents among the 4 groups, but they won't get too much votes from the teenage audience since the outcome will be decided by their votes.
Anyway, we will see how things progress.
he programs had been disrupted by US Presidential Election Debates, MLB finals in the past 4 to 6 weeks.
Anyway, the distractions are now out of ways. To-night the final 13 performed, but TV audiences' votes will decide who to stay or leave.
No doubt the older contestants, namely Tate Stevens in #2, & Vino Alan in #3, performed much better to-night than the young ones.
I will "copy & paste" as soon as their videos are available.
In this evening's episode, one of the finalists was eliminated & the remaining 12 move into next week.
Based on last night's performance & TV viewers' votes, Tate Stevens came in first! This is a morale booster for the 38 y.o. road worker.
Carly Rose Sonenclar's NOV14 performance brought the house down:

1. Tate Stevens. Tate's performance last night is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R03zeA1YJUA
Persoanlly, I don't think he was that great last night, but he got the most votes.
2. Carly Rose Sonenclar. Carly's performance has already posted under #8 & will not be repeated here.
Although we are still far away from the grand finale, I am prepared to bet on Tate Stevens as the ultimate winner.
Let me give you my rationale of picking Tate as the eventual winner of xFactor USA 2012 so that there is no "cannon behind the horse" scenario:
1. He has an unique country music voice. The country music industry needs new blood - a male voice. In recent years, country music has a few female vocalists, Shania Twain, Carrie Underwood, & Taylor Swift, but no male talents. Tate is an outstanding singer among 2012's contestants.
2. Let's face it, money talks. Although the TV viewers cast their votes to decide the winner, the program hosts get a share of the new talents' revenue/profit if they promote him/her, there will be a lot of "arrangements" behind the scene to pick who the hosts can promote & make some money. Tate is an adult, is susceptible to singing contracts & be promoted.
The closest rival is Carly, but she is only 13, will continue with her education rather than drop everything & go on tour.
3. Tate is a friendly, famiily man, well liked by audience of all ages, & appeals to the general public. He is the only one, an my many years' viewing of talent shows, who I feel will not lose too many teenage girls' votes.
I have a 4-0 sweep of previous talent shows' winners, I hope this tradition continues.
