Army is no longer the force to defend the country, more like suppress local population by force.
Smaller ones are really under the protection of large one US, Russia and China.
May be the air missile defense system is needed in protecting one's country. Prevention is better than fighting a never win war. It is hard to occupy a country by force, what is the point of having a large Army other than wanting to capture and retain another weak country.
USA has the world's largest Military Bully Force. It will go into another country which cannot defend itself, with drum up excuses, turn that country into rubble then leave, while claiming the territory has been cleaned of "evils" and let residents take care of themselves with newly introduced democratic ideas!
