Going to visit GuangZhou soon, not with tour groups.
Wonder if anyone has a suggestion as to where to stay (so I can locate some hotels to book) to EAT local food at reasonable price.

Places. Depends on your budget. Zhujiang New Town is more upscale.
If you want a more historical place try Haizhu.
You can use airbnb. But its Canton Fair now, so all places will be ridiculously expensive. 2x3 normal prices. If you can hold off, go after Canton fair is over.

Heard West Gate is good for local eats, dim sum Toa Toa Cui.
Massage is legal one to relax, always get one in China or Taiwan, not HK, too expensive due to high costs of rent.
