MY TAKE ON THE KOREAN PENINSULA CRISIS
Let’s face it, the crisis is created by the World’s Bully –USA which does not want to see the proliferation of nuclear weapons which is a noblecause. However, the Big Bully wantseveryone to “kow tau” to him.
Let us go back just roughly 25-30 years when PRK was experimentingwith nuclear reactors, USA, under BillClinton and in collaboration with other nations, namely, ROK, Japan, China, andRussia, reached an agreement with PRK in which PRK agreed to dismantle itsprimitive nuclear equipments in exchange for supplies (mainly food and energy) fromUSA.
PRK kept its part, while USA was pulling everyone’s legs to delaythe process.
After Clinton, Bush Jr. took power, and during one of his initialspeeches, he branded Iran, Iraq, and PRK as the “Axis of Evil”. Of course, one should never cooperate withthe Evil, and USA did not live up to its part of the bargain at all.
Then there was 9-11, the invasion of Afghanistan. Even before the successful conclusion of theAfghanistan invasion, Bush claimed that Iraq had WMD which Hussein hadconsistently denied, and used that as an excuse to invade Iraq. Mind you, USA had always used UN as a tool toget its way, but the invasion of Iraq was never approved by UN’s SecurityCouncil.
During the Iraq invasion, Iran’s military was on high alertwhile Kim-II of PRK went into hiding, to play safe.
WMD was never found in Iraq but the message to Iran and PRKwas quite clear, keeping an arsenal of nuclear weapons is the only way tosurvive. Once given up, the country willbe invaded, e.g. Iraq and Libya (Arab Spring movement with US$ behind it).
Under the protective wings of both China and Russia, USAcouldn’t do much about PRK.
Then Kim-II died suddenly, Kim-III inherited the vacancy andwas too young and too inexperienced to be trusted by China. To protect himself, Kim-III excuted his ownuncle who held the military power and was pro-China + any other pro-Chinaelements. PRK and China relationsstarted drifting apart.
China kept Kim-III’s elder half-brother under protectivewings just in case Kim-III should be removed. However, Fat Kim got wind of it and sent a team of assassins to have hisbrother eliminated in Malaysia!
Kim-III put all of PRK’s resources in developing more potentmissiles (better and longer delivery systems) and nuclear capacities, anddespite all of China’s effort to persuade Kim-III not to test, Kim-III turned ablind eye/and deaf ears.
So, we reached what we have today.
USA started the fire but wanted China to put it out.
Having Trump who is a loose cannon and seems to enjoyshooting his own foot, time and time again, would not help matters at all, asmore and more threats were issued, to the point of no return.
China had already closed the Friendship Bridge spanningacross Yalu River which was the only trade route between PRK and China. China had earlier stopped all iron oreshipments from PRK as well.
But USA wanted China to turn off the tap of oil flowing fromChina to PRK because it worked the previous time.
China was reluctant to do that because the bilateralrelationship is already at its lowest point. If China uses this final trump card, the message to KIM-III will be:
From:
“We are not friends anymore, but I am not your enemy.”
To:
“We are no longer friends, and we are enemies now.”
Kim-III’s behavior is like a lunatic, testing missiles,claiming that all USA is now “covered” + underground nuclear testing and boastingabout it, basically CROSSED USA’S RED LINE, USA will not allow this tohappen. So KIM-III has signed his own deathwarrant.
The remaining question is how to do it to reduce the damageto South Korea and Japan. USA couldn’t care less if China takes a fewnuclear missiles in the process.
I predict military action soon, possibly beginning of Spring!
Eliminating Kim-III should be easy, limiting the retaliatorydamage is more difficult! However, aslong as the damage is not on US soil, why should USA care?
