2017's Master, was won by Sergio Garcia - el nino!

Sergio bursted onto the golf scene almost at the same time when Tiger Woods first exerted his dominance.  The golf world was so exited as there will be two young golfing talents, battling for dominance for the next, don't know how many years.  Sergio was therefore nick-named "el nino" (Spanish, meaning the baby).

The duel never materialized, as Sergio inevitably always choked on the final days despite leading on the third day.  

Although Sergio won many minor golf championship, but a Major has always eluded him and he resigned to the idea that he would never win a Major during his life time as he is getting older while his games started to lose its glare and there are so many talented, young players now.

Yesterday was a special day as it was the birthday (?) of another Spanish golfing great, Stevie Ballerstero (check spelling) who died of cancer about 10 years ago, a Major win by Sergio would be "appropriate"; plus it was the first time Master after Arnold Palmer's death - a US golf legend, so Sergio was a sentimental favourite, at least for me.

At one point yesterday, Sergio led by 3 strokes with Justin Rose from UK closing in, then it dwindled to -1.  I said to myself, "not again, Sergio!"

El Nino battled back, drew even, and the championship went to a sudden death playoff, and Sergio won with a birdie!

Wow, what a sentimental roller coaster!
