May08, not sure which year, was Teresa's death anniversary.
For older wolf brothers, you will remember her voice & songs. Here is a video re her life:

I will dig up some more videos when I have time.
At the peak of her singing career, she was extremely popular in Mainland & mainlander jokingly said during the day, people listen to 鄧小平, in the evening, people listen to 鄧麗君!
She was once invited to perform in Mainland but she decline to express her anti-communist stance.
Subsequently, she performed in Taipei during one of those "double tenth" occasions & sang a pro-Taiwan (China) song which irked the Communist top brass, & her songs were prohibited from being played in Chinese radio & TV stations.

she still listens to her work every morning during breakfast |

Teresa's strength were: 娃娃臉，咬字清晰，笑容很甜.
She had a very successful singing career, unfortunately a complete failure in love life.
As explained in the video in #1, she was engaged to be married into a wealthy HK family. The groom's family condition was that Teresa must retire from performing. Teresa agreed to retire from life concert & on screen performance but will not give up singing because it was her passion, & the marriage fell through. Teresa's heart was broken & shattered.
As she approached mid-life, there were fewer suitors. Teresa went to Europe to have a quiet life & met this Italian (?) or French (?) male, 15 years her junior, possibly a gigilo.
While vacationing in Chiangmai, Thailand, there was an asthma attack which she was un-prepared (i.e. no inhaling medication) & she died quickly.
After her death, the gigilo (?) partner filed a lawsuit to claim her fortunes & there was a legal battle.... |

yeah, my mom said her vocalization was outstanding/unique. just like what you've mentioned, she was being able to 咬字清晰 even at a super high pitch...
i personally like 林忆莲 more when i was young. hehe... |

Due to singing this song in Taiwan, Teresa Teng's songs were taken off radio stations in China. Only a few in China had TV & only black & white (?).
