If you follow snooker, aside from Ronnie O' Sullivan who ruled supreme today, the two other most naturally talented snooker players are Alex Higgins & Jimmy White.  The following are their sporting life stories:

Alex passed away a few years due to throat cancer.

Jimmy is still alive but was diagnosed with testicular cancer a few years back, had a successful surgery.

The common denominator of both of these naturally talented players is that they both lived life to the fullest - wine, cigarette, & women.

I can only comment on her tennis skill level:  

She is good, but not that good.  She won the 2014 Australian Tennis Open because all seeded players were eliminated in the early rounds.  Even with this win, she has not yet reached the same skills level of the top 5 players.  Since she is not a teenager or in her early 20's, she is 32 (?), I think she has already reached her top form.

In a way, Li Nan is like Michael Chang - a USA male Tennis player of Chinese heritage who won one Tennis major  (Li Nan won 2 Tennis Majors), a tournament contender & that is it.
